A Bethelle-ism

To her grandpa:

"Can you do my buttons?  Because I'm in the front and they're in the back."

A Princess in Las Vegas

The best part about Las Vegas, as any princess could tell you, is the castle, Excaliber.  Despite its Cinderella-esque appearance, it is still just a smokey casino with an expensive gift shop on the inside.  This did not detract from Bethelle's anticipation in being in a real castle.

Here are Joee (Bethelle's cousin) and Bethelle being princesses by a Snow White window.
Here Bethelle is instructing her knights and choosing which one is the strongest.  There will be a dual later to see which one will accompany her to the distant cattle show...
Her carriage was waiting for her as we came out of the castle.
She'll grow into it...

Fremont Street Spray Painters and Stranger Danger

On our first adventure out in Las Vegas, we came across some cool artists.  The guy makes elaborate and detailed paintings all in just a few minutes out of spray paint!  It was captivating to watch.  Here's a link to a video from youtube.  I don't care for the music, so turn down your volume if you don't like it. You can also fast forward with the controls under the video if 6 minutes is a little too long for you.

Our trip gave me the opportunity to talk to Bethelle about strangers.  She knows to stay close to me and that strangers can be dangerous, but before we went out in Vegas I explained what to do if a stranger tries to hold her hand.  I told her to yell really loud, "this is not my daddy!" or "this is not my mommy!"  Bethelle agreed with this idea, adding "or, 'this is not my Rigby!' "

Good advice... You should always know ahead of time what your plan will be if a 6 month-old tries to kidnap you.

An apology and a chronology

I'm sorry for the break in posts lately. The Rushton family has been out of town, but we are back and blogging.

We first went to Las Vegas. We stayed downtown for a few days and then we joined Nick's family at a resort just south of the strip where we stayed for a week. The next week we drove to Gilbert (Mesa), AZ. We stayed with Nick's sister, Trisha, and her husband, Josh. They have a girl just younger than Bethelle and will soon have a son just younger than Rigby. We had a wonderful time with them and with the Arizona sunshine.

We are now back in Washington. It is supposed to snow tomorrow. It is mid-April. Something is wrong.

I have a lot to say regarding our trip, so look for a lot of posts coming soon.

Here we are in front of the New York, New York hotel.  Nick and I rode the roller coaster in the background.
