We did a lot of swimming lessons this summer. It was a tricky affair, as Pierce would not be happy in his stroller for very long each time. During one of the sessions, the pool did not offer classes at all the levels we needed at the same time, so I had to stay for an hour instead of the usual 30 minutes. This left a lot of time for Pierce to crawl away towards the water. I chase, he cries, wash, rinse, repeat.
I think that it paid off, though. All three of the older kids can swim at least a little on their own. Rigby can even go pretty far, but is not completely confident, and Bethelle is quite at home in the water. I have a goal of being able to enjoy lakes and pools and even the Puget Sound without too much worry, and I know that we made a lot of progress toward that this summer.
The pool that we go to does not allow pictures of lessons due to privacy concerns, but this one from the bleachers is pretty cute anyway. We had neglected to bring enough towels.
